Philippe's Fifteenth Post

"Here is Nikki with a Guignol puppet taken with a 28 2.8 ais.

The puppet Guignol is very famous here. It was created in Lyon before the Revolution by a dentist named Laurent Mourquet in order to attract patients to his stall. He created a simple "castelet" (puppet theatre) and performed scenes using his own hand made "glove" puppets. He was the first person to pionner this technique, up until then puppets had only been manipulated by strings.

This fountain was created by Bartholdi.

Bartholdi's best known sculpture is the "Liberty enlightening the world" more known as the "Statue of Liberty" in NYC.
